Burberry Releases First Automatic Watches

Burberry released its first automatic watch collections, The Britain at its flagship retail store on Regent Street, London. The automatic timepieces have been inspired by the tradition brand’s trench coats and it is their first ultra luxury automatic range.

It displayed the collection of timepieces to several guests and the square-cased watches have rivets and buckles. The Chief Creative Officer at Burberry, Christopher Bailey said that watches represent the company’s rich British heritage. He said that he was a part of this project that the designers had been working from long time. The Britain watches have a powerful balance of tradition and modernity, blending strong innovative and attitude design with timeless quality as well as craftsmanship, he added.

The Britain collection sports several models, such as chronograph and power reserve with watches in the range of varying case sizes from 43mm to 47mm. The collection features Soprod, Ronda, and ETA, the self-winding automatic movements with the timepieces decorated with custom designed and high-applied details, including bezels, crowns, and bolts. The rotors stamped with the brand’s logo in a circular pattern that also appears on the dial.

He said that when the company started developing The Britain watches, they simply wanted that to be based on the same craftsmanship and design principles of their iconic trench coats. The result is a watch that embodies the company’s heritage and functional creative values with innovation and modernity, making a timepiece, which is as elegant as it’s relaxed.
